19th Century French Gilt and Upholstered Sofa

This is a gorgeous marquise (also known as “confident” or “tete a tete”) with original gilding, original upholstery (new braid and silk to back panel) and seating restored for current use and comfort. Gloriously faded to “shabby chateau” condition. A very similar, period, marquise can be seen in “French Eighteenth Century Furniture” by Genevieve Souchal plate XXIV.
