George III Mahogany Bureau circa 1760
the fall front opens to an arrangement of central cupboard and pull out columns to each side and pigeonholes above four short and two long drawers, the right hand one fitted for inkwells.The four long graduated drawers below have moulded fronts and retain their original escutcheons and handles. The escutcheons on the fall are also original, as are the carrying handles. The bureau stands on its original tall bracket feet.

The finely fretted escutcheons handle plates are illustrated in the 1758 catalogue attributed to Timothy Smith from Birmingham, and are illustrated in Susan Stuart book Gillows of Lancaster and London plate D2 ‘fig’ K page 330 vol II.
