George lll ‘Plum Pudding’ Mahogany Architect / Writing Desk
A very good George lll mahogany Architect / Writing Desk circa 1770. Highly figured ‘plum pudding’ mahogany top above a long freeze drawer, dividers within and pull-out green baize writing slide. Lovely Chippendale period, handles that are original to the piece. The desk is finished on all 4 sides and stands on column cluster legs with concealed brass castors to the front legs that allows for the drawer to be pulled forward.
The desk has a small ivorine disk with the one time BADA Dealers name of Muirhead Moffat, who were leading Scottish Dealers in the early 20th Century and at one time had the desk in their inventory.
