Mid 17th Century Oak Coffer

An interesting mid 17th Century Oak Coffer, of simple design and panelled / peg construction.  Original pin hinges and candle box, good old colour and condition. Working key.  The front panels are incised with the one-time owner’s initials – I H – and the interior of the lid is inscribed in ink with the owner’s name and dates – jh 16 i 20, Joseph Howle 1683 – perhaps these are the dates of birth and demise, and name of the owner.
